BiLingo, LLC: Over ten years of experience in the Lowcountry!
Welcome to BiLingo!
At BiLingo, we provide interpretation and translation services for businesses or general purposes.
We specialize in the medical field. Our interpreters are trained to help communicate with
non-English-speaking patients. We follow the National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in
Health Care set forth by the National Council on Interpreting Health Care.
We also provide the basic tools needed to review or learn the Spanish language. Our methods include
not only basic grammar, but also an interactive course with the use of video forums, common dialogues,
music and many other elements to help students develop language skills. It is important to emphasize
that the learning process depends on personal interest and effort. The key to learn a language is
self-confidence and a strong desire to learn.
According to the American Academy of Family Physicians: "The Hispanic population is growing
rapidly, and Spanish is the preferred language for many Hispanic people. The use of interpreters
is a multifaceted issue. First, the physician is ultimately responsible for communication. If a physician
is not bilingual, the best alternative is to make use of the skills of a trained medical interpreter or translator.
According to the American Medical Translators, a medical translator or interpreter is a specially
trained professional who has proficient knowledge and skills in a primary language or languages
and who employs that training in medical or health-related settings to make possible communications
among parties speaking
different languages. The skills of a medical interpreter or translator include
cultural sensitivity and awareness of and respect for all parties, as well as mastery of medical and
colloquial terminology, which make possible conditions of mutual trust and accurate communication
that lead to effective provision of medical health services.
We are members of the American Translators Association (ATA).
